Marion County Jail Roster
The official local custody search starts with the Marion County Web Jail Viewer and the separate RPS Inmate Info roster. Jail Viewer is a form search for booking records. The RPS roster supports browsing current inmates, new inmates, and recent releases. Both should be read as jail custody sources. A record can change after intake, court release, transport, transfer to the Transition Center, or movement to a state or federal system.
The roster is run in the context of the Marion County Sheriff's Office Institutions Division. The county jail houses pretrial adults, people sentenced to one year or less, people held for federal authorities, people sentenced to state prison but waiting for transfer, and prisoner-exchange cases. That mix explains why one search may show a local charge, a DOC hold, a court hold, or another-agency hold rather than a simple county case.
The RPS current-inmate roster shows roster tabs, sorting, and a select-name control for browsing public jail entries.
The browse view is useful when a recent booking is easier to find by arrest date than by exact spelling.
Use Marion County Roster
A good roster search uses the narrowest source first. If the person was just arrested in Marion County, use Jail Viewer by last name or booking date. If the name is common, add first name or a date range. If the name spelling is uncertain, the Jail Viewer accepts a percent wildcard. Then check the RPS tabs if browsing current inmates or recent releases is faster.

- Enter the last name first. Add first name only if the result list is too broad.
- Use the percent wildcard when the spelling may differ from the arrest record.
- Check the RPS Current Inmates, New Inmates, and Recent Releases tabs for browsing.
- Call 503-588-8595 if a person should be in custody but no online result appears.
New bookings do not always appear at the exact time family members expect. The research did not locate a published refresh schedule. A missing result should be treated as a prompt to call the jail or records unit, not as proof that the person is not in custody.
Marion County Search Fields
Jail Viewer is built for targeted booking searches. The form allows a single field or a combination of fields. The RPS roster adds controls for Current Inmates, New Inmates, Recent Releases, Sort By Arrested Date or Name, and Select Name. The vendor page also shows app badges for RPS Inmate Info, but that is not the same thing as the sheriff's MCSO InTheKnow tip app.

Marion County Profile Fields
A Marion County inmate profile is a custody snapshot. It can help confirm whether a person was booked, which agency is tied to the arrest, what charge or hold text is published, whether a bond amount appears, and whether a court date is listed. It is not a final criminal history report. Court records decide formal charges and disposition, while sheriff records and court records have their own request rules.

County DOC Federal Search
The Marion County jail roster, Oregon Offender Search, BOP locator, and ICE locator each answer a different custody question. Start local for a new arrest. Move to Oregon DOC when a person has been sentenced and transported or classified into state custody. Use BOP for federal sentenced custody from 1982 to the present. Use ICE for immigration detention when DHS or EOIR information points there.

Marion County Jail Contacts
The main custody contact is the Marion County Jail. The sheriff's records counter is the fallback for report requests, releasable records, and local records checks. The Transition Center is a separate work-release and intermediate-sanction facility. State prisons in Salem have their own ODOC contact and visiting systems, so county jail staff should not be treated as the records office for sentenced prison custody.

Marion County Booking Process
Booking begins after a local law-enforcement agency brings the arrestee to Marion County Jail. Identity and custody paperwork are created, and a public roster entry may appear once data is entered and published. Older county budget material notes fingerprinting and photographs during processing, but current booking-photo release is restricted by Oregon law and Marion County's roster notice.
After intake, the jail handles medical and classification screening, assigns housing, and routes criminal reports to agencies such as the District Attorney's Office when prosecution is involved. Marion County uses direct supervision, so deputies are assigned inside housing units. First appearance and release decisions then move through the court, release officer, or jail channels. For court charges after jail booking, use the Oregon Judicial Department and Marion County Circuit Court records process.
Important: A blank Jail Viewer location means the adult in custody is housed at the Marion County Transition Center.
Marion County Visit Schedule
Marion County Jail visits are 30 minutes and non-contact. Onsite video visitation is available at facility visitation center terminals at no fee. Offsite video visitation uses The Visitor / ICSolutions and was listed at $7.50 for a 30-minute visit. Visitors must register at no cost, bring current government ID, follow the dress code, and arrive during sign-up times. Visits are recorded.
The official jail visiting schedule lists sign-up windows by day, housing group, and last-name group.

Mail Money and Visits
Marion County Jail does not allow individuals in jail to receive packages of any kind. The official mail page references Access Securepak through Keefe Commissary for gift or care packages purchased online. Books are available in pods and through the librarian, but the extracted source did not provide a full book or newspaper mailing format. Confirm current mail and package rules before sending anything.
Remote visits use ICSolutions, The Visitor, and ICS Mobile. That is a visitation channel, not an inmate-search system. Visitors must test the application before scheduling, and internet connectivity problems during offsite visits are not refunded. Adults in custody must communicate day-room time for video scheduling, so the roster and the person in custody may not provide all scheduling details by themselves.
Request Marion County Records
When the roster does not answer the question, use the Marion County Sheriff's Criminal Records Unit. The unit is at the courthouse basement public counter, takes phone requests at 503-588-5071, and lists SMSRecords@co.marion.or.us for records contact. Mailing goes to Marion County Sheriff's Office, Attn: Records, P.O. Box 14500, Salem, OR 97309. Reports with criminal charges are generally not releasable until the subject has gone to court and the case is closed or adjudicated.

Use that records route for releasable reports and booking-related records that do not appear in the public roster.
VISOR and App Limits
Oregon VISOR is the custody notification channel, not a full roster replacement. It can send release, transfer, escape, or death notices by phone, email, or text. Marion County directs users to VISOR or 888-749-8080 and notes that VISOR may require an inmate ID or SID. The inmate ID can come from the jail roster; SID may require calling the jail information line.
The official MCSO InTheKnow app is different. The sheriff's tip411 page advertises it for anonymous tips from a mobile device and also allows text tips by sending TIPMCSO and the tip to 847411. The official app description did not identify an inmate roster, warrant search, mugshot search, or records-request feature. The vendor RPS app badges and ICS Mobile for video visits are separate tools.
Marion County Roster Cautions
Roster data can lag behind the actual custody event. A new booking may not be online yet, and a release or transfer can make a person disappear from the county roster even though another system now has custody information. A hold can also block release even when a bond field appears. Court dates and formal charges should be checked through the court system because booking charges are not the same as final court charges.
Booking photos need special care. Jail Viewer uses generic vendor language saying information may include mugshot images, and the RPS software has image fields. Marion County's official adult-in-custody page controls the local answer: booking photos are no longer provided on the jail roster beginning January 1, 2022 because of HB 3273. Booking-photo requests must go through lawful exceptions and records channels.
Note: Confirm custody with the jail before sending money, scheduling a visit, or assuming a hold can be cleared by payment.
